A day in Stockholm with METRO Accelerator for Retail

METRO Accelerator for Retail powered by Techstars will be traveling across Europe during February in order to meet disruptive retail startups. While we will travel to these amazing destinations and coworking spaces, with these blogs I would like to share with you our #CityInADay tour.

Today we are in Stockholm!

8:30 am – Starting the day with a nice healthy breakfast at the hotel cafe. Today, Sylvia Dudek, program manager from METRO is here with us to meet the startups. Sylvia had been the Program Manager for our last two Hospitality accelerators and I strongly believe that her knowledge and experience will be a great advantage to us today.

9:00 am – The hotel is not far from the coworking space so we decided to walk. It’s very cold but also sunny which made this walk nice and refreshing, before starting our long day.

9:30 am – Just arrived at Sup46. We almost missed the entrance from the street but as soon as you get inside, we could at once feel the startup environment bubbling in the space. We are welcomed by Tatjana Choudhary, who is the event manager at Sup46. She shares with us the story of the place and showed us around before bringing us to our office space for the day.

10:30 am – We now have a bit of time to work. The place is huge! The number of startups demanding a desk at Sup46 was so high, that they had to find a bigger place. They moved in May 2016 to this 2.000 square meters office which also gives one a nice view of the inside yard. It is only 500 meters from the Stockholm Concert hall, and they now have 46 startups sitting there.

11:30 am – We were getting ready for the office hours when Tetiana, introduced herself to the team. Tetiana is in charge of the Startup weekend in Stockholm, and happily, so we discovered that she will also join us for the dinner tonight.

12:00 pm – Time to start with the office hours up until 3:30 pm. Gladly so, our 1st startup for the day that we were meeting for thw Offoce Hours in Stockholm was a Sup46 member.

Office hours are one-to-one meeting with Alexander Hafner, our Managing director from Techstars and Sebastian Campos Groth, our Program manager. It is a great opportunity to pitch your startup to professionals and to get to know more about our program, and how you can benefit from it.

If you are interested in participating in Office hours or meetups, find your city and register here.

2:30 pm – We have a little break today and decided to try the lunch at Sup46 Café that is located at the entrance of the building. Wise choice! The soup and sandwiches were really good. And it also gave us the opportunity to play with the different tech toys that are laid out in the café.

3:30 pm – Wrapping the day in the city, we finished the debriefing of the day and decided to go for a walk in the city. We stopped in a ‘good old days’ style bar for 30 minutes and it was already time to get ready for the dinner.

7:30 pm – Arrived at the restaurant Hemma Vasastan. The restaurant is somewhat between modern and cozy. The service is really good and the ambience excellent!

11:00 pm – From the importance of women in Tech to the Perception of failure between the different countries, the discussions on our dinner table were intense but very interesting. Not a dull moment around. It was really great to get some insight on the Swedish startup scene. A big thank you to everyone who participated.
