A day in Madrid with METRO Accelerator for Retail

METRO Accelerator for Retail powered by Techstars will be traveling across Europe during February in order to meet disruptive retail startups. While we will travel to these amazing destinations and coworking spaces, with these blogs I would like to share with you our #CityInADay tour.

Today we are in Madrid!

7:55 am – Departure from Berlin with METRO Accelerator for Retail, we are all very excited about the day coming up!

10:50 am – Just landed in Madrid Bajaras. The weather is not at its best but we can already feel the “caliente” atmosphere of the city thanks to Sebastian, our Program Manager from Techstars and his wonderful Mexican accent! Time to go to Campus where we will meet the startups!

11:47 am – What a nice place! If someone told me that Google campuses were amazing, I too can definitely believe it now! We were welcomed by the lovely Ana and Carlos who introduced us to the place.

Campus Madrid is operated by Google for entrepreneurs. Located between Parque de Atenas and the famous Real Basílica de San Francisco el Grande, the campus has a great coworking space operated by Tech hub, classrooms, an auditorium, an accelerator space and of course, the famous Campus Cafe where by the way, I had a pretty delicious chocolate cookie treat in a very inspiring atmosphere.

12:00 pm – And then, it was time for the office hours. Alexander and Sebastian take their seat in a cozy classroom next to the Tech Hub coworking space where they will get to meet 5 startups for a dedicated 30 minutes. Office hours are one-to-one meeting with Alexander Hafner, our Managing director from Techstars and Sebastian Campos Groth, our Program manager. It is a great opportunity to pitch your startup to professionals and to get to know more about our program, and how you can benefit in it.

If you are interested in participating in Office hours or meetups, find your city and register here.

2:30 pm – Spanish lunch time, we use this time to meet Techstars team working at Campus Madrid, great to connect with Jose Iglesias who offered us his desk for the rest of the afternoon. Thank you Jose! You are living the #GiveFirst way.

7:30 pm – Time for dinner at Lamucca de Pez. We walked through the streets of old Madrid and joined a really interesting bunch for dinner. Carlos from Cheerfy, recent Alumni of METRO Accelerator for Hospitality was able to join us and the evening was full of great conversations with theTechstars team, Makro Spain, Techfood Magazine and Reimagine food!
